**Youth Tour** - Win A FREE Trip To D.C.

ATTENTION ALL HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS... You could win an ALL-EXPENSE-PAID trip to Washington D.C., on June 11th through the 17th. Travel with other juniors from Missouri, and join hundreds of young men and women from across the country in Washington D.C.  You will visit historic monuments and museums, meet with U.S. Representatives and Senators, and mingle with students from other states on Rural Electric Youth Day! It is a week you will never forget.

High School Juniors are eligible if they either reside or attend a school within Southwest Electric’s service territory. The parents do not have to be members of the cooperative. Each contestant is required to write a 500-word essay on a topic provided by Southwest Electric Cooperative. Essays will be read and finalists chosen for an interview. Two winners will then be selected to represent Southwest Electric Cooperative for the 2010 Youth Tour.

The topic for the 2010 essay contest is “What are the advantages and disadvantages of using renewable energy sources and what impacts could it have on electric cooperatives?” The deadline for submitting an essay is Friday, March 26, 2010, by 5 p.m. Essays are judged on the basis of knowledge of the subject, originality, composition, neatness and grammar.
